Ocean Tides in a Climate Model Simulation

We implemented an explicit astronomical tidal forcing in a climate model. The coarse resolution of the ocean circulation model permits the generation of internal tides and the induced tidal mixing. However, the tidal currents have a considerable impact on eddy viscosity, eddy diffusivity and non-linear bottom friction.
