First of all, thanks for visiting our company's website. We are glad to have you on board! Hopefully you'll find that as we continue to develop this website further, you will discover all kinds of useful information, everything from video seminars on new products, seminars on bicycle maintenance, useful information on products or services that you are considering, or just general information about the sport of cycling.
Mountain View Cyclery was launched on August 1st, 2003 by the husband and wife team of John Bowman and Beven Rich, who were originally from Southeast Michigan. Wanting to move out west for years, North Idaho was discovered by the pair after Beven participated in The Big Ride (Seattle to D.C., 1999) which was a fund raiser for The American Lung Association. Since The Big Ride traveled throught North Idaho, the pair then fell in love with the area and knew that this is where they would call home for a long time to come.
Beven chose to maintain her current occupation as a Cetified Athletic Trainer (ATC; also she is a certified massage therapist) and landed a job with the multi-location North Idaho Physical Therapy, out of their Hayden office. With NIPT, she is also contracted out as the Athletic Trainer at Lake City High School in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. John is very proud that Beven was named the Idaho High School Athletic Trainer of the Year for 2010!
John, however, decided to switch gears and left his 15 years in the flooring industry, lastly as an account executive for Blue Ridge Commercial Carpets of Ellijay, Georgia. So he decided to pursue his dream of owning his own bike shop. After a modest (weekend warrior) bike racing career that was pretty well cut short due to arthritis, he decided that he could still be active in the sport, helping other people along the way to reach their cycling asperations. And that is a short story that basically tells everyone of how Mountain View Cyclery happened.
Our main intention is to continue to evolve into the best bicycle shop that you could wish for. Customer service is our number one priority. We want you to be able to come into Mountain View Cyclery and feel as if you are a friend of ours. Many of you already are, and for that we are grateful. Our ability to meet your requests means a lot to us, because we want to be there for you, your family, and your friends for the long haul. We have tried to put together the best staff that we could assemble, and are confident that any one of us can help you bring your own cycling dreams to fruition. Thanks for giving us this opportunity.
From everyone at Mountain View...enjoy the website and happy cycling!
