I am a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Philosophy at Oxford and a Fellow of St. Catherine's College. Before coming to Oxford, I received my Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley and spent one year as a Visiting Professor at the University of Puget Sound. My CV is here.
My research interests are primarily in philosophy of mind, cognitive science and psychiatry but they extend to issues in epistemology. Currently, I am thinking about the relationship between delusional cognition and ordinary belief formation. I am especially interested in ways in which delusional subjects conceive of epistemic possibilities and in whether or not belief formation is an essentially norm-governed cognitive process. I am also working on a variety of questions concerning self-knowledge and our knowledge of others' minds. Outside philosophy of mind, I have a strong research interest in the philosophy of David Hume.
