Welcome. Here is some information that will help you start your year off right!

Materials:

1.      One two inch binder -green

2.      Four green Hilroy copybooks – non spiral – 32 pages

3.      8 dividers

4.      Loose-leaf paper

5.      Plastic protectors – pack of 10 to 20 (recommended)

6.      Pencil case with basic supplies

-          Pens ( blue & red), pencils ,eraser, liquid paper and ruler

-          Two different coloured highlighters

-          Markers

-          Usb key (recommended)

7.      English dictionary (recommended)

8.      1 green duotang

Evaluations:

Each student will be evaluated on his/her development of the competencies listed below through the following evaluations:

Competency 1: Uses language/talk to communicate and learn.

Competency 2: Reads and listens to spoken, written and media texts.

Competency 3: Produces spoken, written and media texts.

o   Letter Writing

o   Reading Response

o   Journals

o   Novel Tests

o   Reading Comprehension Activities

o   Poetry

o   Plays

o   Interviews

o   Orals

o   Persuasive Writing

o   Term Projects

o   Class Discussions (Student engagement and participation)

Rubrics and/or checklists will be used to evaluate.

Exams will be administered twice a year, once midyear and once at the end of the year.

All evaluations given in class must be signed.

Important information, homework, assignment due dates and will be posted on the site.

Homework/Assignments/Agenda:

Students will be assigned homework almost regularly. They should be reading and/or writing in their response journal regularly. All homework and assignments are to be written in the student agenda.

Recuperation:

Any student requiring extra help is expected to attend recuperation sessions. These sessions will be held two days out of the nine day cycle.
