Students are expected to attend all class meetings and are responsible for all of the material covered in class and in the homework. Any changes in this syllabus or in the scheduling of exams will be announced during class meetings (usually at the beginning of class so please don’t be tardy).
No assessments will be re-opened for students who add the course late. Grades for these students will be determined by taking their remaining scores as a percentage of the course breakdown as described in the grades.
No make-ups will be given for any WeBWorK assignments.
The 2 lowest WeBWorK assignments will be automatically dropped for final grade calculation.
Each WeBWorK set is open for a minimum of two weeks.
Do not wait until the day of the due date to complete your WeBWorK.
It is your responsibility to complete assignments as early as possible to avoid potential incidents.
Exceptions will not be granted to students who wait until the last minute to complete their WeBWorK and encounter issues.
In exceptional situations such as: university sanctioned event, religious holidays, military obligation, or late add WeBWorK due dates may be extended. This is at the discretion of the instructor.
A students first 2 focus session post assessments, for any reason, are counted as a zero but will be automatically dropped at the end of the semester. This is to account for any scheduling conflicts, emergencies, events, or any circumstance where a student misses a focus session assessment. This policy includes religious observances and VISA accommodations.
As such, for the first 2 missed focus session assessments, there are no excused focus session post assessments for any reason.
If a student does not miss any focus session post assessment, then they will have their 2 lowest scores automatically dropped.
No make-ups will be given for focus session post assessment. The drops are meant to account for a missed focus session assessment for any reason. Examples include, but are not limited to: Weddings, Short-term Illness, Work, Emergencies, Job Interviews, Funerals, Travel, Religious Holidays, University Sanctioned Events, Military Obligations, etc...
This includes trips related to other classes and or fraternity/sorority trips.
Students who miss more than two focus session post assessment due to university sanctioned events, religious holidays, or a military obligation should provide their instructor with documentation at least two weeks in advance of the absence. In these cases the instructor and student will work together to with the course supervisor to determine if the missed focus session post assessment will be dropped.
A students first missed quiz, for any reason, is automatically dropped at the end of the semester. This is to account for any scheduling conflicts, emergencies, events, or any circumstance where a student misses a quiz. This policy includes religious observances and VISA accommodations.
As such, for the first missed quiz will not be excused for any reason.
If a student does not miss any quiz, then they will their lowest quiz score automatically dropped.
No make-ups will be given for missed quizzes. The quiz drop is meant to account for a missed quiz for any reason. Examples include, but are not limited to: Weddings, Short-term Illness, Work, Emergencies, Job Interviews, Funerals, Travel, Religious Holidays, University Sanctioned Events, Military Obligations, etc...

The test and quiz dates and times are available from the start of the beginning of the semester, therefore excuses such as: other classes, work, travel, and other personal events(family vacations, clubs, weddings, etc.) are not valid reasons for missing an test or quiz. This includes trips related to other classes and or fraternity/sorority trips.
There are no make up tests/quizzes.
There are no or alternative test/quiz dates.
If you have an exceptional circumstance that will prevent you from taking a quiz/test you must contact the course supervisor Dr. Bramer(bramerda@msu.edu) well in advance or as soon a possible given the circumstance.
In rare situations, students who miss a test or quiz due to an emergency and can provide documentation showing this may request accommodations for missing the test. However, students must request this from their TA/instructor and course supervisor, Dr. Bramer(bramerda@msu.edu), as soon as possible.
Those with extreme and unique circumstances may request an alternate exam date / time but must do so at least 1 week before the exam date.
Requests that are not made within a week of the missed test or quiz will not be considered.
Those with a court date scheduled on the day of an exam should request an adjournment to move their court date.
