Self-Assessment Check

A few weeks after the start of the semester it is important to take some time to reflect upon the efforts you are putting into this course. In particular please make sure you are completing the following assessments on a weekly basis.

  • WeBWorK
  • D2L
  • Supplementary Practice
    • Suggested homework
      • Through the MSU library Affordable Textbook Program books will be available electronically to loan digitally. Digital loans will have the same checkout period as print textbooks (2 hours) – links to electronic copies will expire at the end of this loan period.
    • Practice quiz(s)
    • Any remaining or incorrect problems from the focus session.
    • Any problems you were given during lecture.

The list above provides a bare minimum amount of work that a student should put toward the course every week. Depending on your background you may need to do more.

Contrary to our own beliefs, we are not the best judge of our abilities. In fact research shows that people consistently over-estimate their abilities in every category. As such, I encourage you to meet with your TA/instructor early to discuss your goals in the course and determine ways to hold yourself accountable to meeting those goals throughout the semester.

We want every student to succeed, and a vital component of success comes from the habits we create and foster. Please take this time to seriously consider your efforts.
