About the FOMF

The Friends of Mount Field was formed at a meeting organised by Wildcare and the staff of the Mount Field National Park on 9 December 2000.

At the same time the Adopt-a-track scheme was commenced in the park and most of the initial volunteering work was done under that scheme by the various individuals who signed up to that scheme.

For some reason the adopt-a-track scheme seemed to be downgraded by the Parks and Wildlife Service soon after volunteer facilitators were appointed and their efforts were directed more to groups. This resulted in most of the track maintenance coming under the wings of the Friends of Mount Field.
