After your son or daughter has had a chance to talk with one of our coaches and workout with the team, the following are the action items needed to become an official member of Mt. Diablo Heat.

1) USATF / National Membership

This is an essential step in racing in any of our meets. Your athlete must become a USA Track & Field member for all USA XC events. Click on the red Join/Renew Now button at the top right of the website to complete the process. When it asks for the USATF-Registered Club, use our Mt. Diablo Heat club number "539". The current cost is $20 per year.

2) Birth Certificate / Age Verification

After you have received your USATF membership, you will then need to send in your athlete's birth certificate for age verification. This age verification step is ESSENTIAL if you want your athlete to be eligible for the Junior Olympic qualifying meets during track season in the spring and cross country in the fall.

The manager at the USATF-PA office is Heike Mansoor.

You will need to send her this birth certificate via email, fax or regular mail. When you share this certificate with Heike for verification, please provide her with your USATF membership number, along with our team name (Mt. Diablo Heat) and number (539).
