How to video (Presented by Dick Blick)
Water Soluble Pastel Monotypes

Create a themed series of monotype prints and arrange them in a unified manner (float mount.)
Monotype and Monoprint (Prezi)
Plexiglass Intaglio

Reduction Prints, Lino Cuts
SWBATs
- discuss the basic function of linoleum/woodcut in block printing method and how a single block can be utilized to layer multiple colors in a single design.
- compose and execute a design to be utilized for their reduction print design.

Collagraphs: Found Art, Texture and Design
Note: Over Spring Break you will be responsible for gathering textured materials
I will check for materials on April 19th while we are relocated due to PARCC testing.
During PARCC testing we will be working on our design concepts for this project. Be prepared with
your sketchbooks. We will also be working on our first sketchbook assignment of the marking period
which is to create a design for the cover of the program for the upcoming Art Show.
SWBATs
- describe the collagraph printmaking process
- locate and appraise what materials can be used successfully in the collagraph printing process
- demonstrate variety by using at least three different textures in their collagraph plates.
- compose a design by using various found materials and cutting them into shapes using scissors and x-acto knives then attaching them to their printing plates
- demonstrate an understanding of the printmaking process by generating at least one successful print using their printing plates.
How to make your Collagraph Printing Block. (YouTube Video, 13:47)
*Note: This video does not show the artist creating any design plans prior to beginning to make her plate. While I am not defining whether your design needs to be objective or non-objective, all students are required to submit design plans prior to being given approval to begin making their printing plates. Every mark on your plate must have thought and intention. We are not just gluing random things to a paper and hoping for the best. Doing so will result in a low grade.
REMEMBER: Just as in other printmaking projects, what you put on your plate will print backwards. Keep this in mind when you designing and creating your plates!

Final Assignment- Silk Screening
When students are ready, students will each receive a one on one (or small group) demo on:
-How to cut their design from the emulsion (Hint: The process is much like cutting a stencil)
-How to apply their emulsion to a prepared silkscreen
-How to pull a print on their fabric (Note: Students are responsible for bringing in a shirt or other type of fabric to print on)
