Marysville Pilchuck High School Instrument Music Department boasts outstanding performance ensembles, as well as other music classes. Through teaching music in education, we offer a comprehensive music program with Concert Bands, Jazz Ensembles, Marching Band, Choir, Guitar and Music Technology. Individuals have represented us at Solo & Ensemble contests receiving the highest possible scores.  We have also been represented at the Washington State Music Educator’s Association’s All-State Band, Orchestra and Choir.

  • WMEA Parent Power Workshop  This year WMEA has added a new event the the their music teacher convention week: the Parent Power Workshop. This workshop will provide useful information on various subjects, all of which are important for the parents of music students to have. WMEA's goal is to give parents the tools with which they can talk to teachers, counselors, administrators, school board members and other decision makers, from the local through state levels. This year's special keynote speaker is Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser. This workshop is on Saturday, February 15th at the Fourth Street Theater in Yakima.

  • MPHS Winter Concert The MPHS Winter Concert is on December 17th at 7:00pm in the MPHS Auditorium. This holiday event will feature the award winning: Concert Choir, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensembles. Musical selections include holiday favorites: including Leroy Anderson's "Sleighride" and Wilhousky's "Carol of the Bells", as well as classical selections of Johann Sebastian Bach and more contemporary pieces of Harry Belafonte.As always, musical performances at Marysville Pilchuck are family events and free to the public.

  • MP strikes gold in San Francisco During Spring Break, the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Choir and Marching Band toured to San Francisco. During their stay in the Bay area, the Marching Tomahawks participated in clinics with the staff of the world famous Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps and the directors of the choirs and bands of Stanford University. While at Stanford University, the concert choir brought joyful tears to many eyes, as they performed "Ave Maria" in the Stanford Memorial Church. Later that evening, the Jazz Ensemble entertained crowds on Pier 39 in San Francisco.   • Winterguard at NWPA Championships The NWPA Championships and final show is Saturday, March 30th at Cascade High School.  We perform at 3:30 if you would like to come watch. Admission into the event will be somewhere in the range of $10-$15, I'm not exactly sure. This is your last chance to see our show and how far all the kids have come in a few short months.

  • San Francisco here we come! The MPHS Bands and Choir will soon be departing for the Bay Area!Musical opportunities that the students would experience include a visit to Stanford University, where they would be able to tour the campus as well as work with the music professors to better their musicianship. We enjoy  a clinic with the World Class Drum and Bugle Corps – Santa Clara Vanguard. The Jazz Ensemble will be performing on Pier 39. The musical highlight of the trip is the opportunity for each of the other groups to perform in the international Heritage Music Festival, where they would compete against groups from throughout the world and be adjudicated, with clinic, by professionals on a world class status.
