The Michigan State University Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 2009. Before that, the club only catered to rifle shooters. Since 2004, students shot air rifle in the ballroom of Demonstration Hall. In 2007, club members started travelling once a week to Looking Glass River Sportsman Club to practice .22 (smallbore) rifle.
In 2009, the pistol component was added to the club, and they became the MSU Rifle and Pistol Club. Members started shooting at the MSU Demmer Center. Pistol shooters compete in international style pistol events including air pistol, standard pistol, free pistol, and women’s sport pistol.
In 2012, club members decided to move back to the Looking Glass River Sportsman Club. They currently reside there shooting air and .22 rifle and pistol.
