We will proceed with the initial task of reviewing
the guidelines in Robert Dickeson’s book and begin compiling information
about all academic and non-academic programs. The committee will meet
weekly and has been asked to keep the campus
informed and involved in its work. Just as a reminder (and notify the
faculty and staff in your area) that this committee is charged primarily
with collecting data and establishing a rubric of criteria for
measuring program effectiveness. The prioritization
process described by Dickeson is used to determine how a campus can
strengthen programs through resource allocation and reallocation. This
committee is charged with coming up with that rubric,
but not making any recommendations for specific budget action.
Today at the meeting, the members thought that the
title of the council was confusing and might lead some to think that it
is not focused on prioritization. Dr. Fuller agreed to change the name of
the committee to the University Program Prioritization Committee.
