Who I Am
Teacher, advisor, director, ccommuter, daughter, reader, observer, photographer, and chef. So, what does that mean?

Teacher: I love teaching students. When I was in third grade, I filled out a homework packet and I chose teacher as my career. I enjoy helping people learn how to learn. I have taught on 4 of the 7 continents. I have taught in two countries that exist on one island. I even volunteer in my free time to teach. It doesn't have to be English or drama; I enjoy seeing others learn how to do something new and how it changes their lives for the better.

Advisor: I am the advisor to two clubs on campus: Drama and Journalism.. I want students to enjoy high school and take leadership over activities.

Director: Each year, the Rio Mesa Drama Club puts on three shows. As director, I refine the students' acting/singing/dancing, arrange the space, create the ideas for the sets, buy supplies, build and design sets, sell tickets, create programs and merchandise, and most importantly see students do something that I was not brave enough to attempt in high school.

Student: I am a life-long learner. If it can be read or watched, I am fascinated. Last year, I graduated with my Master's in Educational Technology from CSUNorthridge. I also love to learn languages: Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Swahili, Arabic, Finnish, Croatian and Russian. (Although I'm only a learner in all of them, I am not even close to fluent).

Commuter: I live in the city of Los Angeles but work here in Oxnard. Each day I drive 90 miles which takes up to 1.5 hours.

Daughter: I am the only child of my retired parents. I am also the caregiver to my mom who has poor health.

Reader: If there are words on it, I read it. For instance, my friends make fun of me for knowing what other uses a Target bag has (it was written on the side). My favorite books to read are too numerous to mention. The top three are: Persuasion by Jane Austen, Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo, and the Bible.

Observer: The world is an interesting place and the plants and animals that inhabit it are even more intriguing. Just look around and you learn so much.

Photographer: Since I was five, I have loved taking photos. My favorite subjects are nature (macro and environments), animals and insects, and architecture.

Chef: I love seeing people relaxed and comfortable and the best way is to provide them with tasty dishes.
