Meet Your Teacher

My name is Ms. Kristen Morkevich, and this is my eighteenth year teaching at Mainland. Before working at MRHS, I taught in Pleasantville High School and the County Alternative School in Atlantic County.

I earned my Bachelors of Science in Mathematics from Montclair State College in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. I also earned my Masters of Science in Education focusing on Integrating Technology in the Classroom from Walden University.

I LOVE my Ti-nspire!

My mission as a teacher:

“My mission is to encourage each of my students to aspire to achieve their best and to strive for success in everything they do. I will empower my students to believe in themselves and to know that through learning they can be successful. I will treat my students with compassion, respect, and understanding to model a socially responsible environment. I will set high expectations for all and promote in them the authority to take control of their lives and make positive choices for themselves. I want my students to realize that the choices they make now will affect them directly in all aspects of life. I will make my classes fun and engaging, so my students will maintain interest and actively participate in learning. I will encourage them to be academic risk-takers to promote a spirit of the discovery of knowledge. I want them to realize that they will become more informed and better prepared if they share my expectations, make positive choices, and develop a true interest in the subjects they are learning. As I encourage the exchange of learning from teacher to students and vice versa, I will continue to grow professionally by a collegial exchange of ideas. ”
