Extending Human Rights

Human rights violations are generally explained using examples of genocide, but often, violations can be just as damaging while being far more subtle. This unit will allow us to consider human rights violations from the non-genocidal perspective as we read Ibsen's A Doll's House. We will also learn to apply a critical lens (Marxist literary criticism) to the literature we read this unit while we begin to examine others, like feminist literary criticism. Finally, we will focus on structuring effective compare/contrast arguments and work with integrating sources effectively and ethically.
