Read All About It
Today was a SEF sponsored lab with Ms. Mackin. Students mixed together baking soda, food dye, and warm water. They inserted a piece of yarn with paper clip on the end to their mason jar. We are hoping for a killer stalactites!
Today was the first day in the computer lab working with iMovie. Students were amazing! Every child was actively engaged creating their movie. Today we imported picture, added transitions and played with the application. I am really excited to see the final product.
The Unit 8 math test will be Friday, March 29. This date is tentative.
With the new year, I was able to record student's homework on Power School. Power School isn't live for elementary school parents to view, so I have printed out a missing assignment report. This will show any assignments that your child has missed. If you don't receive a report, it means your child has turned everything in!
On February 29th we will be heading out to Mission San Juan Bautista! This is a wonderful field trip that brings to life social studies by showing students mission life.
Permission slips will be in Thursday Folders today. We do need drivers/ chaperones for the trip. We leave at 8:45 and return by 2:10. Students will need to bring a lunch.
Please return permission slips by 2/3/12!
Foothill will be participating again in Pennies for Patients! Last year we raised over $4,000.00, which meant that Mr. Bosco had to kiss a pig! Students are asked to look for change around the house and, starting Monday, bring it in. Each student is given a collection box and when their box is full, they can empty it in the class box. We will be collecting for three weeks starting Monday, 1/23.
We are collecting to help support The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society find a cure to Leukemia and Lymphoma. Also to improve the quality of life for patients with Hodgkin's disease and myeloma.
If you want to place a book order, please turn in your form and money by next Friday, 1/27. I will place the whole order all at once!
Science Fair Proposals are due Friday, 1/27. The proposals will be reviewed and handed back by Februrary 10th. Fourth grade students are encouraged to participate, but it is not mandatory. Students may work individually or in small groups. All the information can be found on the Foothill Elementary website including the proposal forms.
Science day will be Thursday, March, 8th. If students are participating in the Science Fair, they may drop their poster off at the MPR before school on Thursday, March 8th.

We will be having our annual sing-a-long on Friday, 12/16, at 8:40 in the MPR. Please feel free to come and join us sing our way into the holiday season!
