Student Groups

American Medical Student Association (AMSA) --AMSA is the largest independent medical student organization in the United States.

  The MSIH branch is involved in promoting the objectives of AMSA and supporting students activities at MSIH.

The Appendix -- MSIH's literary journal.  It features short stories, creative nonfiction, poetry, and visual art submitted by both students and faculty.

Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) -- Started in 2006, EMIG cultivates opportunities for MSIH students to learn about the field of Emergency Medicine through guest speakers, workshops and volunteer opportunities.

The Ethics Advisory Committee (EAC) -- The EAC facilitates periodic debates and organizes group discussions regarding ethical issues facing fellow medical students.  Two first year EAC class representatives will be elected at the beginning of the year.

Families in Medicine Group-- Started by several students who were married and had children, this group provides support and increases awareness about the issues that affect physicians and their families.

Global Health Journal Club -- Each month a student member selects an article from a medical journal and leads a lunch discussion on a topic related to global health.

Students for Integrative Medicine (SIM)--SIM was created by Jon Mendelsohn '09  in 2007.  SIM offers opportunities to become more knowledgeable in the world's diverse healing philosophies and modalities.  Members also provide wellness activities to help balance the stress of medical school.

Women's Health Interest Group (WHIG) --Created in 2007 by Rachel Pope '11, WHIG offers lectures and activities that promote education about women’s health and gender/sexuality issues.

Groups looking for a student to take over:
