NEWS!

12/13/13: immaus, for solo violin, has been selected for performance at the Pacific Northwest Regional Conference of the College Music Society.  It will be performed at the University of Montana, Missoula, April 11-12, 2014.


12/13/13: immaus, for solo violin, has been selected for performance at the Great Lakes Regional Conference of the College Music Society.  Violinist Kia-Hui Tan will perform at North Dakota State University, Fargo, March 29, 2014.


12/4/13: immaus, for solo violin, has been selected for performance at the Rocky Mountain Regional Conference of the College Music Society.  Violinist Lina Bahn will perform at the Metropolitan State University of Denver, March 21-22, 2014.


9/26/13: Jiyoon Lee and I have been selected to present at the World Congress of the American Association of Applied Linguistics in Brisbane, Austrailia, August 10-15, 2014.  


8/3/13: I have been appointed Visiting Assistant Professor at Saint Joseph's University.  


6/2/13:  I have been awarded a Subito Grant from American Composers Forum.  This grant will fund travel to Seoul, South Korea in December 2013 for attendance at a concert and recording session of my work, Celebrations, for 18-string kayagŭm, commissioned by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture and to be performed by Jung Gil-seon.


6/1/13:  I have been awarded a Community Partners Grant from American Composers Forum.  This grant will fund a new site specific collaborative dance work with Philadelphia-based dancer and choreographer David Konyk.


5/31/13: Check out an article and video from Penn Arts and Sciences on the Wail of the Voice! concert from January 2013.  The concert featured my trio, In Search of Planet X, as well as music by Penn faculty composers James Primosch, Jay Reise, Anna Weesner, and Emeritus Professor, Richard Wernick.


4/16/13:  I have been selected to present at the College Music Society's National Conference in November 2013 in Cambridge, MA.  My paper presentation will present recent research on Korean popular music, including discussion of PSY's "Gangnam Style".


1/30/13:  I have been awarded a full fellowship to the 2013 Aspen Music Festival and have been commissioned to write a duo for violin and viola.  My orchestral work, Beyond Planet X, will also be read.


12/20/12:  I have been commissioned by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture to write a new work for 18-string kayagŭm for Jung Gil-seon.  The work will be performed in Seoul in December 2013.  Also on the program will be music by University of Hawaii composers Donald Reid Womack and Thomas Osborne.     


12/11/12:  I have received an Honorable Mention in the Pittsburgh Symphony's 9th-annual reading competition for my work, Beyond Planet X.


12/3/12:  I have received an Honorable Mention in the MACRO Composition Competition for my trio, In Search of Planet X.
