Welcome to the 2014 MS 5K Run and Walk with Color, hosted by the Physical Therapy Student Organization at Central Michigan University! The race is scheduled for April 12, 2014, and registration will be open shortly.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (CNS), which is made up of the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. Symptoms may range from mild (such as numbness in the limbs) to severe (paralysis or loss of vision). The progression, severity and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable and vary from one person to another. Today, new treatments and advances in research are giving new hope to people affected by the disease. (Courtesy of www.nationalmssociety.org)
Help us to not only work towards providing this new hope to people living with MS, but to also increase awareness about MS while promoting the importance of an active lifestyle by racing. Our hope is to raise money to support Multiple Sclerosis research, and to provide further education for the community about this disease.
All proceeds will benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society - Michigan Chapter.
Thank you for supporting this great cause!
This is a great race for those of all ages and abilities. The race course is relatively flat, on paved sidewalks and some grassy areas. Color stations will be scattered throughout the course, providing an added element of fun for this family-friendly race! Be sure to wear a white shirt on race day to take full advantage of the color experience! The course will wind through the campus of Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant. Aid/Water stations will also be placed throughout the course. Following the race, snacks and drinks will be provided!
