Language Arts 201 is a one-year required course for sophomores. Students read a variety of literary genres including poetry, the short story, nonfiction, the novel, and a Shakespearean play. The writing component utilizes the process approach to writing and provides instruction in the basic modes of expression: narration, description, exposition, persuasion, and argumentation. Speaking and listening are integrated throughout the curriculum. Students will be expected to read at least one book outside of class each semester.[follow LA 201 on twitter @LA201Teachers ]
Mass Media is a one-semester course covering all aspects of media including print, audio, television, and film. This course enables students to produce and critically use forms of media. Students will study the history as well as present and potential uses of media.
