FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. FCCLA is the student organization associated with FCS Education. It promotes leadership development and personal growth through Family and Consumer Sciences education (FCS). Our goal in FCCLA is to complete a community service project and raise awarness of the importance of strong families, positive communication, setting goals, and leadership.

Experiences in this course focus on developing skills needed to select, prepare, and serve food that meets nutritional needs of individuals and families. Emphasis in this course is given to the development of competencies related to nutrition, the food consumer, kitchen organization, kitchen equipment, menu planning, serving food, eating food at home and on the go, and career opportunities in the field of food and nutrition.
Student led class exploring various cooking and baking techniques, nutrition, culture, hospitality, and restaurant management. This class is an in-depth study of culinary arts, designed for students with a passion for food and service. To enroll in this class you need to pass Creative cooking with a “C” or better.
Nutrition is a key component for health and wellness. All lessons will use nutrition as the basis for instruction. Developing healthy eating habits early in life will prevent chronic diseases, nutritional deficiencies, and lead to a better quality of life.

Relationships & Parenting is a valuable class that covers values, families, and parenting information.
This course provides students with the tools and information they need to handle the challenges of current and future relationships. Starting with dating, infatuation vs. love, expectations for marriage and successful communication discussions, healthy relationships are established. The second part of the course then focuses on starting a family and understanding the roles and challenges of becoming a parent. Healthy decision making and family planning is addressed, as well as pregnancy, birth, and delivery. All students will experience the responsibility of caring for a RealCare© infant simulator as part of the class requirements. PREREQUISITE: Grades 10-12 only.
