Welcome to the website for Mr. Steenstra's computer class at Calvin Christian School in Escondido, California.
Helpful Information
Everything taught in this class comes from a Biblical worldview.
Students will be using Google Apps during this class. Their Google Apps account enables them to safely access documents and presentation through the Internet from school or from home. It includes "Calvin Mail" that allows them to send messages to people within Calvin, but not outside of Calvin. Neither can they receive messages from anyone outside of Calvin. Internet safety and privacy will be stressed throughout this class.
This website is the place to go for the latest information about this computer class. Currently the entire site is open to the public, but if any student personal information is added to the site, access to that part of the site will be restricted. After that time, I will need your Gmail address to give you access to the site. If you do not yet have a Gmail account, you can create one in only a few minutes by visiting https://mail.google.com. Then simply send me an email from your Gmail and I will give you access to the class website. Students will always have access to the site through their Google Apps account.
Students will often get “Quia quizzes” as assignments. These quizzes must be taken using the Internet. The link to the Quia website is located on the Resources page of the class website.
Quia quizzes can be taken multiple times. I will keep the best score. The students score is shown after the quiz has been completed. The correct answers, and the questions missed, are not shown.
Quia quizzes are open book, open notes. Students may want to take a computer book home to help them with their quiz.
The Internet at Calvin Christian School is protected using a sophisticated Internet filter. It filters out pornography and other inappropriate content. Since some things might still get through, all computer use is monitored by Calvin staff.
The most up-to-date assignments and grades will be posted to the CrusaderConnection. You will need an ID and password from the office to login.
