About Mrs. Shields

Thank you for stopping by!

I always find it hard to write about myself. How does somebody come up with interesting facts about themself when life begins to revolve around your kids and your job? Well...you just have to try really hard and perhaps make lists and do some pre-writing :)

This is my seventh year of teaching as an 8th grade ELA teacher, but it is my first year in Wylie ISD!. I love what I do and I love working with 8th grade students. I am a firm believer in challenging my students and I will push you when you don't feel like pushing yourself-I promise you will thank me later. I have your best interest at heart and I know you are capable of more than you realize. My goal this year is to help you see that potential and prepare you for your next step in life's journey: high school!

Back to me: I was an Army wife for 8 years until my husband was medically retired in 2016. My husband and I have been married for 9 1/2 years; February 2018 will mark TEN years of marriage! We have two beautiful girls, ages 5 and 8 years old. My life is constant chaos and I often refer to my girls and I as the "hot mess express". I like reading and I love quiet time (something I don't get much of with two wild girls of course). I love crafts & making awesome things with my Silhouette Cameo. I love going to the movies, but I'm just as content staying at home & binging on Netflix. I like manicures and pedicures and I hate going to the mall/shopping (even though I LOVE buying things) :) I love my job and I love finding new or weird ways to present material.

I realized recently we REALLY need to get updated family pictures, but here is a (slightly outdated) glimpse of my family!!

I am goofy and crazy and I don't care if I embarrass my kids or you. I promised myself long ago to stay weird!

I will leave you with a word of advice that I wish someone would have instilled in me when I was growing up.
