Welcome to AP Language & Composition

Milford High School is running AP Language and Composition for the first time in the fall semester 2014. This course will fulfill the requirement for English 11 as an honors level course. Students may apply for Running Start dual enrollment through the Community College System of NH so that their work in this course fulfills English 101 College Composition, a four-credit course.

For a glimpse of what a thorough, helpful resource this will become, check out my English Resources page for links to my other course websites.

Throughout this course, we will be developing habits of mind that allow us insight and help us identify complexity in the reading that we do. Critical reading of at that level contributes to our personal store of wisdom that we can use in all areas of our lives. Let's start by seeing what "insight" and "complexity" are as they relate to literature.

What is AP Language & Composition?

To understand the goals of AP Language and Composition, I recommend you bookmark and refer to the College Board's course homepage for this particular AP course. Be sure to maintain a distinction in your mind between AP Language & Composition and AP Literature and Composition; their goals are different.
