About Mrs. Ryback

My name is Shana Ryback and
I have been drawing for as long as I can remember, and have always known I would be involved in the arts as an adult. While in High School I took classes in design, figure drawing and studio drawing at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago. I majored in painting at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, before changing my major to Art Education in the middle of my sophomore year to incorporate my love of working with children.
I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education in 2001, and my Master of Education from National Louis University in Curriculum and Instruction in 2007.

I began my teaching career at Lincoln Elementary School in Mundelein, IL, where I taught multiage classrooms in grades 1-2 and 3-5. From 2003-2013 I was the Art teacher at Blaine Elementary School in Chicago's Wrigleyville neighborhood, where I saw all students in Preschool through 8th grade. In 2013-2014 I taught grades 1-5 at Countryside and Rosyln Road Schools in Barrington School District 220. From 2014-2017 I taught Art for K-2 at Oak Terrace School in Highwood, IL. This is my first year in Zion District 6 and Shiloh Park School.

My husband and I live in Deerfield with our two daughters. I enjoy painting, sewing, scrapbooking, reading and spending nice days outside with my family.
