The Assignment:

Create a research Booklet

• Identify a topic of interest
• Read and review a narrative non-fiction book related to the topic
• Gather information about your topic by consulting at least 3 additional sources which must include the following:

--a website

--a database source such as Ebsco, SIRS

magazine, journal or newspaper

--another book

and could include:

--encyclopedia/Britannica

--blogs

--podcasts

--videos

--infographics

Each source will have a title index card and # and you will use that # on the note cards to record important quotes and thinking related to that source. Hot Topic/Debate Page: What is debated about your topic? What is a problem related to your topic? Highlight all views on the issue or problem. This should be an unbiased presentation of all sides.

Historical Page: Use research to give the historical background of your topic or issue.

Geographical Page: Use research to identify where your topic is most relevant/most talked about.

Statistics Page: Research statistics related to your topic. Your write up will be an analysis of the statistics--what do they show?

Biography Page: Profile someone who is a major "voice" on your topic.

Interview Transcript: Complete an interview (20 Q min) with someone who is an expert on your topic. Your write up will include an introduction, transcript of the interview and conclusion.

A Day in the Life : Use research to explain/describe one person's way of living (a day in the life of...) related to your topic.

Survey Page: Report results from a survey you have developed about your topic. Must be administered to 50-100 subjects. Your write up will analyze your results.

Infographic Page: Analyze or create and describe a visual representation of information about your topic.

Connections to Pop Culture: Show how your topic appears in film, art, music, advertising or other mass media.

Social Commentary: Use research to show how your issue/topic impacts everyone.

OR

Write a research paper 5-7 pages in length. There will be no title page.
