Here's a general outline of what your children do in music class.
First through fourth graders will be participating in a formal assessment in general music at the end of this school year.
Our goal is to create consistency throughout our district for those students who find themselves at a different district elementary building during the school year. We are aligning some standard songs, rhythm patterns, instrument study, movement to folk music and developing listening skills, incorporating some common literature in the music classroom, use of Orff instruments to develop proper playing techniques, activities so students will have similar experiences and introduction of recorders in fourth grade.
This will in no way stifle the creativity of your teacher in the approaches he or she uses to teach the curriculum skills and content.
Great song about being a friend someone can count on!
