Today: Module 3 Lesson 1 Franklin Intro, Notes, Formative Assessment, & Completion Assignment
Today:
After the Puritans, even more Europeans began to settle into the new land to be called the United States of America. Within 100 years of the Mayflower Voyage, American Colonists moved away from a primarily agrarian (farming) culture to an early industrial society. This industrial life allowed our great thinkers the luxury of time to write and inspire. You will study several of these great thinkers in this unit.
Franklin was certainly known for his unique personality and independent thought. He embodied the ideals of individualism we still value in America. It is no wonder, he was one of the framers of the Declaration of Independence and that his famous wit and wisdom is still said and celebrated today. To learn more about the man, please watch the Prezi above. Please ignore the first 3 slides.
Assignment: As you read an excerpt from Franklin's The Autobiography, you will see that being of sound moral character was indeed something of extreme importance to him!
Today you will rephrase Ben's virtues into your own words and then provide an example of someone you know who fits that virtue.
