Today: Module Six Post Assessment
Insert Prezi- https://prezi.com/slj2w92jorq4/the-literary-analysis-essay/
Today: During this module you have spent a lot of time thinking about imagery, metaphor, and theme. You have also gotten to know the works of Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson. Today you will have the opportunity to put all you have learned into practice.
The Task:Below are two essay questions. Choose either OPTION 1 OR OPTION 2. Once you've done this, follow the directions carefully for the one you've chosen, and remember to show me your best work. Be sure to note whether you've chosen OPTION 1 or OPTION 2.
OPTION 1
1. Choose Whitman and Dickinson to compare and contrast.
2. Select one specific poem from each of the authors, and compare/contrast one of the following poetic elements: theme, imagery, symbolism
OR OPTION 2
Consider a common theme that Dickinson uses in her poetry. With this theme in mind, choose two of her poems and write a reflection of at least 200 words to elaborate on this theme. Some possible themes are death, success, hope, and more...
You should use your knowledge of the poems only for this work--do not use the internet, just your head!
Remember to proofread your work. If you want a refresher on writing a literary analysis essay the prezi above is quite helpful. If you choose option 1 you might want to take a look at this handout from UNC's Writing Center on Comparing and Contrasting.
