Today: Module Six, Lesson Two
Insert Prezi - https://prezi.com/u-ozbyxwmbjc/emily-dickinson/
Today: You will learn about Emily Dickinson, another great American poet. Her works are beautiful and packed with meaning. Take time with her poems and reread them. They are short, but full of imagery, symbolism, and beautiful language. You will also take some time to study and think about symbolism and imagery in poetry. Enjoy!
Tasks for today: You will begin with some information on Emily Dickinson and a presentation on symbolism in poetry. Take time to watch the video and read the profile on Dickinson as there is a lot of great information there. You will read one of her poems, "Hope is a thing with feathers" and then you will take a quiz on what you have learned. Then you will have a chance to look more closely at "Hope is a thing with feathers" and to read and work with another of Dickinson's poems, "Success is counted sweetest."
By the end of the day you should have turned in:
1. Module Six, Lesson Two Completion Assignment
2. Module Six, Lesson Two Mastery Assignment
Remember to read the instructions carefully and if you complete the option with images- remember to cite your sources.
When you are finished, please go back and make up some work! You should do at least 1 extra assignment each day this week until you catch up.
Today: Poetry can be so powerful. If you are interested in seeing how another poet uses words to navigate the world check out this TED Talk by writer, Sarah Kay. It is beautiful!
