Week of 2/27- 3/3 Read and discuss chapters 4 & 5  (Chapter 4 is a MAJOR turning point with a HUGE revelation about a main character) 

Week of 2/21- 2/24 (no school Mon, 2/20) Chapter 3 Vocab & text quizzes. Pre-reading vocab activity  chps 4/5. 
                                                                    Begin reading chapter 4. Grammar- adverb practice

Week of 2/13-2/17 We are reading Chapter 3 in class w/ discussion questions.

Monday 2/13-- Chapter 1&2 vocab and text quiz. Open BOOK.
Mon-Fri 2/6-2/10---Read and discuss chapter 2 w/ vocab. 

Tues 1/31-Thur 2/2 Read/discuss Great Gatsby Ch 1. 
Fri 2/3 Ch 1 Study Questions with a partner on Friday, due at the end of class.

Great Gatsby books must be IN CLASS before Monday January 30. You must show me your personal copy by Friday 1/27 in order to get 20 points extra credit.

In preparation to read The Great Gatsby, we have completed a Roaring 20s online scavenger hunt. From that, students chose a topic of interest to research further.
  • Students will research and complete an informational essay with citations on any topic relevant to the 1920s. (LAFS.1112.W 2.4-6 & LAFS. W 3.7-10 Cognitive Complexity: Level 3: Strategic Thinking & Complex Reasoning/Level 2: Basic Application of Skills & Concepts)
  • Students will create a visual enhancement to complement their essay. This will be presented to the class. (LAFS.SL.2-6 Cognitive Complexity: Level 3: Strategic Thinking & Complex Reasoning/Level 2: Basic Application of Skills & Concepts)
Paper and project are due in class on Monday, January 23. Late turn ins will lose credit, as we have dedicated 4 full class periods to this project.
