  • Week of February12th
Wow, February is flying by and I believe it has rained almost every day.  This week 4th grade will be learning about multiplying fractions.  They will be practicing this along with adding and subtracting fraction.  In science they will continue learning how the crust of Earth changes through weathering and erosion.
Fifth grade is working on dividing fractions.  They will be practicing that and all operations with fractions.  In science they are beginning the unit on cells and single cell organisms.
Please don't forget you can always check your child's progress through the parent portal.  There is a link to the portal on the homepage of my website.  You can also check homework on the homework page of my website.  There is a link to a calendar for each grade.
Don't forget our coupon book fundraiser.  This is the last fundraiser for our overnight trips.
Students do not come to school Monday, February 19th.  It is a holiday.

  • Week of February 5th
Hey Ho, Let's Go!  Let February begin.  Fifth grade will continue with multiplying fractions.  They need to know how to multiply a whole number by a fraction, a fraction by a fraction and a mixed number by a mixed number.  We will be doing a lot of practicing this week and will be working on fraction word problems as well.  We may, toward the end of the week, begin dividing fractions.  In science we will finish up with genetics and begin learning about cells.
Fourth grade will continue to practice decomposing fractions, adding and subtracting fractions and multi-step word problems with fractions.  In science we will finish up with fossils.  A shout out and a huge thank you to Mrs. Persuad and Mrs. Kerley for donating more clay for fossil making.  We made some great fossils.  Students will bring those home this week.  This week they will begin learning how the surface of earth changes through the processes of weathering and erosion.   It's going to be a great week!

  • Week of January 29th
Well, January has flown by.  Hopefully we can settle into the third quarter and a regular schedule again.  This week 4th grade will be working on adding and subtracting fractions..  This includes simplifying fractions, converting between improper fractions and mixed number fractions and decomposing fractions.  It's just fractions, fractions and fractions.  In science we began our unit on fossils.  We are going to be making actual models of different kinds of fossils.  A special shout out and thanks to Ms. Wilder, Victor's mother, and Ms. How, Jayla's mother, for donating air-drying clay.  We will put it to good use.  Fifth grade will be multiplying fractions all week.  In science we will continue with genetics.  Students are learning how some traits are genetic and passed down from parent to offspring though genes.  Other traits are learned or acquired from environmental influences.  Thank you to those parents who allowed students to bring those "Oh so embarrassing" baby pictures for us to compare traits.  Fifth grade is also working on the Stock Market Project.  This will be on-going for the rest of the year.

    Some New Dates:
Report cards will be sent home Wednesday, January 31st
February Heart Family Projects are due February 5th
A make up date for the awards assembly has not be determined yet.  I will let you know as soon as it is set.

Don't forget to check Friday folders and send those back on Monday.
