About Me

I grew up in the Las Vegas area, but moved to Utah in 2002 for college. The high school I attended was small,  so I had the opportunity to experience a lot of different activities. I played  basketball and softball, I was student body vice president my senior year, president of the theatre society/drama club, and was a member of the National Honor Society. I also played bass guitar in a punk-rock band! Since graduating high school, I've studied Theatre, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology before finally returning to my passion: teaching English and Creative Writing! I received my Associate of Science from Southern Utah University in 2012, and my Bachelor's Summa Cum Laude from UVU in 2015 with a major in English Education and a minor in Creative Writing.

So far, I've had three of my academic papers published in Essais, an undergraduate journal of literary criticism, several poems and short stories published in Touchstones  journal of art and creative writing, Warp and Weave Magazine, and Five 2 One Magazine. I'm also working on writing a novel. These unique writing experiences will help me demonstrate how effective writing techniques can translate into publishing accomplishments as well as bringing joy and fulfillment to the writer.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, going running, playing games with my friends and family, singing and writing music with my husband, as well as reading and writing for fun (yes, for fun!). Some of my favorite things to read are fantasy novels or historical fiction novels. I also enjoy poetry of all types. I especially enjoy the works of William Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, and Emily Dickinson.
