Homework for the Week of March 5-9

By the end of the week students should have completed the following:
 
1. Quiz over "The Bass, The River, and Shelia Mant" AND "Catch the Moon"
2. Receive Book Talk Presentation form and work on presentation. (See due date note below)
 

Independent Novel Book Talk

Due: “A” day: Monday, March 12th and “B” Day: Tuesday, March 13th

 

Please do NOT forget to complete your book talk form (the “dancing books” page,) and your visual aide before the next class.

The book talk form is 50 test points.

The informal presentation over your book (and the book talk form) is 50 test points.

 Your visual aide, which can be a Powerpoint presentation, a flip chart, or a poster is 100 test points.

 

These grades will be the first on your fourth quarter grade. We have been working on it in class all this week.

By the end of this week you should have turned in the following:
 
1. second draft with works cited page and title page. This is ONLY if you would like to be eligible to receive extra credit for your final draft
 
"A" days (1,5,7th hours)
Extra Credit Timetable
Second draft due: Thursday, Feb. 9th
Second draft returned with teacher editing marks; Monday, Feb. 13th
Edit and revise, gather all materials to turn in on Monday evening
Final draft and all components due for extra credit: TUESDAY, FEB. 14th
 
"B" days (2,6th hours)
Extra Credit Timetable
Second draft due: Friday, Feb. 10th
Second draft returned with teacher editing marks; Tuesday, Feb. 14th
Edit and revise, gather all materials to turn in on Tuesday evening
Final draft and all components due for extra credit: Wednesday, FEB. 15th

Homework for the week of January 30-February 3rd

By the end of the week you should have completed and turned in the following:
1. Title Page-typed
2. Works Cited Page--typed
3. Rough Topic Outline (this does not need to be typed)
4. 5 Source/Note pages (minimum requirement. More pages/sources are suggested.)
5. "A" day only: Rough Draft of research paper (with internal citations.)

1. Unit 1 notes: Probable Passage and Episodic Notes over "Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets"
2. Unit 1 notes: 1/2 sheet preview vocabulary and Sensory Notes over "The Pedestrian"
3. Writing Prompt #1:
 
Imagine you have just won an event at the Olympics. Think about what event you competed in, what you saw and heard, and what it felt like to win. Write a well-developed, multi-paragraph 1st person narrative.
 
4. Independent Novel Reading
5. 2 Journal prompts (to be written and left in your Writer's Notebook in class)
 

Homework for the week of August 22-26

By the end of the week you should have completed the following:
1. Bio bag presentation
2. Pre-Test for English 2 (graded in class)
3. Read: "Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets"
4. Complete: Probable passage over "Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets"
5. Complete: 6 Episodic Notes over "Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets"
6. Pick groups and create drafts of your presentation over the story
7. Turn in parent letter and signed course outline.

Homework for the week of August 15-22

1. Signed parent class outline sheet (you sign it too)
2. Parent letter to your teacher
3. Bio Bag Presentation
4. Check a book out from the IMC
5. Start reading your independent novel
6. Tell your parents/guardians about Open House next Thursday, August 25th 6 p.m.
7. Begin the "Beginning of the Year" Pre-assessment test
