03: Kate Chopin

Kate Chopin is widely considered an excellent writer of both short stories and novels. She is often categorized as both a realist and a naturalist. We will read "Desiree's Baby," a short story Chopin is well-known for. It brings up issues of racism, a significant problem in 19th century America. 

You will receive a copy of "Desiree's Baby" in class, but if you misplace it you can access the entire story here.
