This week we finally had an almost normal week!! On Tuesday we enjoyed an assembly from the Iowa Skippers. They showed us many jump roping tricks and taught us how to be heart healthy. On Thursday we had our Jump-A-Thon and the first grade raised over $550!
In social studies we have been learning about maps. We have learned about the compass rose, the keys and legends and the landforms on the maps. Each student is being asked to complete a map of their own. They can map their house, their room, a map of their neighborhood, the playground, etc. The map needs to include the compass rose and a key or legend. We will be sharing our maps on Monday and Tuesday.
I also went to a half day training this week to set up a classroom web page. There are a few items on their now and I will continue to update and eventually add pictures of classroom activities. If you have suggestions please let me know! The url is: http://sites.google.com/site/mrscolesfirstgrade/
