I have been teaching Language Arts at Jesup High School since August of 1999. I regularly teach English II, Speech, Drama, Creative Writing, and English I. From 1999-2010, I also coached the Large Group and Individual Speech teams, and directed the Spring and Fall plays.
I graduated from UNI with a BA Degree; my major was Communication/Theatre Arts Education, and my minor was English. I have also taken four graduate courses through the Iowa Writing Project at UNI (Levels I and II, Reading and Writing Across the Curriculum, and Teaching Deliberatively). I have enjoyed these classes and gained proficiency in my teaching because of them. The IWP is a great benefit for any teacher, no matter the subject area! In addition to the IWP classes, I have also completed a class incorporating technical writing with the business world through UNI/Hawkeye Community College.
The best times to reach me in person at school are between 7:00-8:00 A.M. and after school from 3:30-4:30 P.M.
I can be contacted by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to set up a conference, contact me or the h.s. office, and I will be more than happy to arrange a meeting time.
I was born and raised in Riverside, Iowa (home of Captain Kirk) and graduated from Highland High School. I have TWELVE siblings (7 brothers, 5 sisters), ten nephews, and six nieces. My family means a great deal to me. Growing up, all we had was eachother.
I am a Simpsons FREAK!! I admit it, I can pretty much quote you any amount of trivia you'd like to know or recite entire episodes from memory. This is aparantly a Strabala family trait.
In addition to the Simpsons, I am also a Vikings fan!!!! Joke all you like, this is their year (this statement will stand for every season until they win the Super Bowl).
I love the outdoors! Being outside is something I thoroughly enjoy. Here are a few things I like to do outside: Hiking, climbing, biking, walking, golf, football, fishing, hunting, amature photography. Other interests I have include: Listening to music, theatre, symphony, reading, and cooking.
