How to Succeed in My Class
1. Be Organized
ü Maintain a neat, accurate assignment notebook, calendar, or other means of tracking assignments, both for daily homework and long-term assignments.
ü Keep your class materials in good order. Use the notebooks, folders, pockets, etc. that I require to keep materials organized & useful.
ü Learn to manage your time wisely, allowing the time necessary to complete assignments to the best of your ability.
2. Be Prepared
ü Bring all necessary materials to class every day. This includes materials specific to that class, as well as general school supplies such as lined paper, pens, highlighters, etc.
ü Arrive to class with any homework complete and ready to be submitted.
ü Be prepared—EVERY SINGLE DAY—for a brief, written quiz on material covered in recent classes or as part of your homework.
ü Check with the course website frequently to review the course calendar
3. Be Involved
ü Engage willingly and actively in in-class activities and discussions.
ü Be willing to answer questions and share ideas with the class as a whole.
ü Work productively when placed into groups with other students.
ü Be creative and original in your approach to your school work.
4. Be Respectful
ü Treat other individuals in the classroom with respect and common courtesy.
ü Show that you respect yourself as a student by taking pride in your work and the work of groups in which you participate.
ü Provide honest, mature feedback to your classmates when reviewing their class work
ü Be attentive and cooperative in the classroom. Please be particularly careful to NEVER speak when another person is speaking to the class as a whole.
5. Follow Directions
ü Read & follow the directions provided for each assignment. Pay attention to details!
ü Use the rubrics provided for formal writing assignments and long-term projects. These indicate exactly what is expected, and, in effect, tell you exactly what you need to do to earn a superior grade.
ü Check with the course calendar frequently, as dates & requirements have a habit of changing over time.
