Basic Classroom Discipline Plan

The color chart:  I use a simple color chart to help individual students keep track of their behavior.  This system works exactly like the common colored card system but looks a little different.  The color that they are on indicates how they have done for the day.

Green – Good day, no warnings, or improved after a warning.

Yellow – Official warning

Orange – Continued infraction, benched at recess, orange slip filled out and sent home for parent signature.

Red – Benched for two recesses, Orange slip, phone/email home to explain situation.

*Purple – Super Day, student did something that really exemplified the month’s character trait focus.

*Students who end their day on Purple, Orange, or Red will receive a signature from me, in the corresponding color, in their planner books to instantly inform parents of both positive and negative student performance.  Feel free to contact me if you have further questions about your child’s behavior on a particular day.

This system will also be used toward whole class incentives helping the students to work together toward the goal of having excellent classroom behavior.

We will also be working toward other class goals, such as attendance and test/quiz scores, in order to earn  “Fun Fridays.”  This is about 20 minutes at the end of the week to play standards driven games and sing wacky songs…things that fourth grades can’t get enough of.
