  • How to Help the BES/WES Bands
    The Burchfield and Winfield Band Programs are always accepting donations of musical instruments.  The age or condition of the instrument does not matter.  If we cannot get the instrument to playable condition, we can receive some trade-in value for it with Taylor Music.  We are most in need of woodwind, brass or percussion instruments.  String instrument donations are welcome, but they will most likely be used as trade-ins.

    The band also has projects through DonorsChoose.org.  Use the link below to see our current project.

Tennessee Musicians

  • Doc Cheatam  Doc Cheatam was born on June 13, 1905 and given the name Adolphus Anthony Cheatam.  He would later go by the nickname "Doc" inspired by his family's hopes that he would become a pharmacist.  He is best known for his jazz trumpet playing and band-leading.  His musical career began in Nashville's African American vaudeville circuit in the 1920s, and he continued playing until his death in June of 1997.
