You will be drawing the outline of an animal using straight lines. I would like you to be original, but if you need inspiration, there is a TANGOES book on my desk that will show you examples. You can create your own animal if you’d like as well. There are 10 copies of one I made on my bulletin board or you can see the file linked at the bottom of the webpage. The steps are below. Make sure you have a rough sketch of your animal before you proceed.
1. Use the graph paper provided on my desk.
2. Plot 9 to 15 points on your Cartesian Plane.
a. Make an effort to use the ENTIRE Cartesian Plane.
3. Connect the points to make the outline using a RULER.
a. There should be no less than 8 lines and no more than 14 lines.
b. There should be no MORE than four horizontal or vertical lines.
4. Label your points with coordinates (x,y).
5. Find the distance between your points using the Distance Formula.
a. Show work in your notebook.
b. You can check yours answers on the distance calculator on my website.
6. Simplify your radicals if possible.
7. Write the distance on each segment and highlight.
8. Find the perimeter (add up all the sides). Combine like radicals if possible.
a. List radicands from smallest to largest.
9. Write the total perimeter on your paper.
