Unit Coordinator

  • Representative of the Coordinating Entity (Lincoln/Lancaster County Health Department). 
  • Acts as the ambassador for the Southeast NE MRC Unit within communities MRC serves. 
  • Disseminate MRC program information from national, regional and local level. 
  • Process of new MRC volunteers. 
  • Update and keep volunteer records (i.e., training, qualifications, meeting attendance, Unit Directory). 
  • Enforce Unit policies and procedures.

Unit Leader
  • Reports to Unit Coordinator 
  • Assists Unit Coordinator with administrative program related activities such as: 
    • Local recruiting 
    • Local training 
    • Local record keeping 
  • Assist with Unit public relations
  • Assist in coordinating Unit activities
  • Qualifications: 
    • Current in area of expertise 
    • Complete required NIMS courses 
    • Well-regarded in their community
Assistant Unit Leader
  • Reports to Unit Leader 
  • Takes over Unit Leader duties when Unit Leader is not available 
  • Assists Unit Coordinator with administrative program related activities such as: 
    • Local recruiting 
    • Local training 
    • Local record keeping 
  • Assist with Unit public relations 
  • Assist in coordinating Unit activities 
  • Qualifications: 
    • Current in area of expertise 
    • Complete required NIMS courses 
    • Well-regarded in their community 
Volunteer Relations Liaison
  • Reports to Unit Leader 
  • Retain volunteers
  • Assist Unit Leader as requested 
  • Serve as an advocate for Unit volunteers 
  • Researches and provides material for Facebook and Web site 
  • Qualifications: 
    • Current in area of expertise 
    • Complete required NIMS courses 
    • Well-regarded in their community 
Safety and Training Officer
  • Reports to Unit Leader 
  • Coordinate relevant training for volunteers 
  • Update and maintain volunteer records 
  • Ensure that Unit meetings include a training component 
  • Qualifications: 
    • Current in area of expertise 
    • Complete required NIMS courses 
    • Well-regarded in their community 
Logistics Officer
  • Reports to Unit Leader 
  • Responsible for maintaining written inventory of all unit supplies 
  • Request resupply when necessary 
  • Upon activation, relocate Unit supplies as necessary 
  • Qualifications: 
    • Current in area of expertise 
    • Complete required NIMS courses 
    • Well-regarded in their community 
Public Information Officer
  • Reports to Unit Leader 
  • During activation disseminate accurate and approved information as directed by Unit Leader. 
  • Conduct informational presentations regarding MRC activities 
  • Coordinates with the Volunteer Relations Liaison volunteer recruitment 
  • Maintain good relationships with community media contacts 
  • Qualifications: 
    • Public speaking experience recommended 
    • Current in area of expertise 
    • Complete required NIMS courses 
    • Well-regarded in their community 
Speaker’s Bureau Coordinator
  • Maintains a current speaker’s outline and PowerPoint for use by volunteer speakers who present an up to 20 minute program (including Q & A) about the Medical Reserve Corps to other organizations including civic and service clubs 
  • Assists in the scheduling of speakers 
  • Maintains list of available speakers 
  • Maintains list of possible groups needing speakers
