Marco Albertini is Associate Professor in theDepartment of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Bologna. His research interests focus on intergenerational relations - and in particular the exchange of resources between generations within the family; the consequences of separation and divorce on children’s educational level and parent-child relations; the comparative study of income inequality and social stratification; the consequences of childlessness on elderly people support networks; long-term care policies and ageing. Marco Albertini is currently Adjunct Professor of International Political Economy @ the Johns Hopkins University - School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).

Professor Albertini received his Ph.D. from the European University Institute. He has been Research Assistant @ the European University Institute, Visiting Professor @ Pompeu Fabra University and Junior Researcher @ the Center for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences of the Juan March Institute . In 2011 and 2012 he has been Visiting Scholar and Sunstrat Guest Researcher @ the Swedish Institute for Social Research; between 2011 and 2014 he has been member of the Roundtable on Welfare Innovation of the Fondazione Alma Mater; since 2013 he is member of the Programme Committee of the Ph.D. program in Sociology ofthe University of Trento, in 2014 he has been Short Term Consultant to the World Bank for the Regional Aging Report in Europe and Central Asia.
