Ensembles


SYMPHONIC BAND (grades 9 - 12)

Symphonic Band is a year-long class for students who have successfully completed course objectives for Concert Band meets Benchmark 3 of the Washington State Essential Learning Requirements. Focus in on intermediate level concert literature, with an emphasis on technique, music understanding, and performance.

 

WIND ENSEMBLE (grades 9 - 12, by audition only)

Wind Ensemble is a year-long class, open to students successfully completed the course  objectives for Symphonic Band and have been accepted into the ensemble through the audition process meets Benchmark 3 of the Washington State Essential Learning Requirements. Focus in on upper level concert literature, with an emphasis on technique, music understanding, and performance. Members of this ensemble are required to audition to the WMEA All State Band and/or MENC All Northwest Band.

 

PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE (grades 9-12)

Percussion Ensemble is a year-long class with middle school experience playing a percussion instrument meets Benchmark 3 of the Washington State Essential Learning Requirements. Focus in on moderate level percussion literature, with an emphasis on technique, music understanding, and performance. Students in this ensemble will assist the Concert Band, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble during concert season and the Marching Band during competitive and parade season.

JAZZ ENSEMBLE (grades 9-12)

Jazz Ensemble is a year-long Zero hour class, open to any student with middle school experience playing a wind instrument, piano, bass, guitar or drums meets Benchmark 3 of the Washington State Essential Learning Requirements. Music performed will emphasize swing, Latin, and some popular styles. Students will develop improvisation techniques, jazz history, and theory. This ensemble will attend many jazz festivals throughout the state, both in and outside the school day. Concurrent enrollment in a concert band, percussion ensemble or guitar class is required.
