Daughter of Andrew Stephenson and Anne Moubray and wife of Alexander Boyd, Writer in Stirling

First Generation

1.     Anne Catharine STEPHENSON was born 20 May 1810 in Barony Parish, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She died 23 May 1855 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland from exhaustion as a result of childbirth  aged 44 and was buried 30 May 1855 in High Church Burial Place, Stirling.

Anne's baptism was witnessed by John Gibb & Charles Douglas 1810 in Glasgow. She was counted in a census 7 Jun 1841 in Wellington Place, St Ninians, Stirlingshire.

Anne married Alexander BOYD, son of James BOYD and Elizabeth ROB, on 21 Nov 1843 at Allan Park, Stirling. Alexander was born 1803 in Logie, Clackmannanshire, Scotland. He died 12 Apr 1859 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland.

Alexander and Anne were married by contract 1843 registed at Stirling Sheriff Court (Pre-Nuptial). He was employed Procurator, Sheriff and other courts /per census by 1851 in Stirling, Scotland.  He was employed Writer (Solicitor) 1859 in Stirling, Scotland. He had a will probated 27 Jul 1859 in Stirling Sheriff Court.

They had the following children:

                3    F          ii.    Elizabeth Rob BOYD was born 4 Mar 1847 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland and was christened 18 Apr 1847 in North Church, Stirling. She died after 1851 in Scotland presumably in early childhood.

Elizabeth was counted in a census 1851 in 1 Terrace, Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland.

                4              iii.    un-named BOYD was born 23 May 1855 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland. un-named died 23 May 1855 in Stirling, Scotland (stillborn).

Second Generation

2.     Ann Moubray BOYD (Anne Catharine) was born 12 Oct 1845 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland and was christened 18 Jan 1846 in North Church, Stirling. She died 1914 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland.

Ann resided 1866 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland at time of marriage. She was counted in a census 1871 in Glenacres, Dunlane, Perthshire. BIRTH: Scots Ancestry Research Society notes her date of birth as  12 Dec 1845

Ann married James Webster BARTY, son of Revd. James Strachan BARTY DD ( who was Moderator of the General Assemby of the Chuch of Scotland 1868/1870) and Margaret WEBSTER, on 21 Mar 1866 in Dunblane, Perthshire. James was born 1 Nov 1841 in Bendochy, Cupar, Angus, Scotland and was christened 5 Dec 1841 in Bendochy. He died 1915 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland.

Dunblane Catherdral Windows

Between the tower and the south-west doorway are the Barty windows, erected in 1917 by the family of Dr and Mrs J W Barty in their memory.  The artist was Louis Davis of London.  The subject of these two windows is the "Nunc Dimittis", or Song of Simeon.

James was employed Solictor 1866 in Dunblane. He was employed Procurator Fiscal & Solicitor per census by 1871 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland. He was counted in a census 1881 in Glenacres, Dunblane, Scotland.

Dr. James and Ann Barty with their family at Glenacres, Dunblane in1889. On the extreme left is James Webster Barty, who came to Dunblane in 1863. The 16 Year old boy standing to the right of the doorway is Alexander Boyd Barty who was later to write the classic, "History of Dunblane".

              10    F         vi.    Agnes Elizabeth BARTY was born 1875 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland. She died 1948 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland.

              11    F        vii.    Janet Boyd BARTY was born 1877 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland.

              12    F       viii.    Helen Moubray BARTY was born 1878 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland.

              13    M        ix.    Thomas Patrick Webster BARTY was born 1880 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland.

              14    F          x.    Elizabeth Rob BARTY was born 1881 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland and did not marry. She died after 1969 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland.

Miss Barty commissioned a genealogical report from the SCOTS ANCESTRY RESEARCH SOCIETY of Edinburgh on the Moubray ancestry of her mother in 1969. Copy in family records.

 

Third Generation

9.     Alexander Boyd BARTY (Ann Moubray BOYD, Anne Catharine) was born 9 May 1873 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland. He died 2 Mar 1940 in Dunblane, Perthshire, Scotland.
