Moving West

Welcome to Moving West.  During Social Studies, we will be learning about the expansion of the United States from 1775 - 1840.  The United States just became a new nation, created a new government with the Constitution, and is now ready to spread west.
Your job will be to explore the people, places, and events that helped our nation grow.

Think of these essential questions as you research your topic:
  • Who was affected by the expansion of America?
  • Was expansion good for everyone involved?
  • What kind of people chose to move west?
  • Why did pioneers choose to move?
  • What laws were changed during these early years of expansion?
You and the members of your group will research one part of the expansion of our country and teach this information to the rest of the class.  Your assignment is as follows:

  1. Research your topic thoroughly.
  2. Answer all bullet points on your page.
  3. Answer your essential question.
  4. Create at least 3 different projects demonstrating your learning.
    1. One project must be written.
    2. One project must be drawn.
    3. One project must be multimedia.
  5. Follow the rubric to complete your assignment.
