6 November: anti-Tar Sands action surrounds the White House

For the first time in decades the White House was completed encircled by protestors. This time it was over 10,000 people from the Northeast coast ad as far West as Chicago who gathered to protest the pipeline being planned to cross the greater part of the North American continent. The movement is headed by people of the indigenous Oglala Tribe, one of the bands or sub-tribes of the Lakota People. One of the most famous people of the Oglala Tribe historically is Crazy Horse.
