The Last Man on Earth:
Richard Matheson's 1954 novel "I Am Legend" has first been adapted to film, in 1964 as "The Last Man on Earth" (starring Vincent Price) and in 1971 as "The Omega Man" (starring Charlton Heston).
But the new version, “I am Legend”(2007) starring Will Smith is said to be more faithful to the original novel.
"I Am Legend" is certainly not without its fans. Dean Koontz once called it "the most clever and riveting vampire novel since 'Dracula,' " while Stephen King has credited both the book and Matheson as strong influences.
The Last Man on Earth is a 1964 horror/science fiction film starring Vincent Price. The script was written in part by Matheson, but he was dissatisfied with the result and was therefore credited as "Logan Swanson".
It was filmed in Italy, and was later released theatrically in the United States by American International Pictures. It has since fallen into the public domain.
Based on the chilling Richard Matheson science fiction Classic "I am Legend" and later remade as "The Omega Man" starring Charlton Heston. Also remade as “I am Legend” by Will Smith in 2007.
This classic features Vincent Price as scientist Robert Morgan in a post apocalyptic nightmare world. The world has been consumed by a ravenous plague that has transformed humanity into a race of bloodthirsty vampires. Only Morgan proves immune, and becomes the solitary vampire slayer.
