About MMU‎ > ‎

History

In the heart of Silicon Valley, there were several small film making groups. Ben Park, created a meetup group 'San Jose Film Makers' August 14, 2008. Moorthi PV joins as the first member and the first meeting was at Borders, Milpitas, only Ben and PV met on the first meeting on sep.20 '08. The group on sleep almost 4 months, then, we called the 2nd meeting in March 21, '09, Cheenu Krishnan joined our team (who by the time already completed a feature film 'One Way Ticket').  In the following months Ray Raffa joined us.

In one of these early MMU meetings (Milpitas Library) the group was talking about  Charlie Chaplin (First Genius of the Movies) and his United Artist Pictures, thus we changed our group name to "Movie Makers Unite"

In one of the following meetings at Star Bucks , Milpitas Mc Arthy Ranch shopping center, PV announced 'SILIWOOD in the making'  ('09)

After making 3 projects in 2009, the group was slowing down, PV took over the Silicon Valley Movie Makers Unite group to organize  by end of '09.  He constantly making lots of changes to the group , motivating more filmmakers to produce films and possibilities of multiple productions at the same time, also made the group as open forum for any filmmaker. Since then we successfully celebrated MMU's first FILM FESTIVAL in Jan 16th  '10.

MMU's objectives changed to Building an International community of Filmmakers

May 2010 We announced 'Silicon Valley Film Festival' - with an objective of 'Great Beautiful Tomorrow's World' and to spread the spirit of Silicon Valley's innovation, entrepreneurship, technologies to the rest of the world that helps a rapid Social Change in the human life.
