About Us

As Christians we believe that Jesus is our Savior, through whom we are given new life. The Gospel (the “good news”) is that His forgiveness sets us free from sin and the law so that we can love and serve one another. Thus, Jesus is at the heart of everything we are and everything we do. As Paul writes, "We preach Christ, and him crucified..." (1 Cor. 1:18), and that is the basis of our teaching and our confession. For more information and more specifics regarding this teaching, see our What We Believe page, or just call or stop by Mt. Calvary for worship, Bible class, or just to chat.

Mt. Calvary is made up of people who are honest about their sin and their Savior. When the world sees the Church and expects law-teaching perfection, it's no wonder that it often accuses the Church of being hypocritical. The true Lord's Church stands in contrast to this misunderstanding. Simply put, we confess that we are born sinful and continue to be plagued and burdened by our sin and our shame throughout our lives. Because of our desperate situation – being dead in our sin – Jesus became man and died on the cross for the sins of the world. He died for all of us who are too sinful to save ourselves. This is the Good News!
